Fertile Ground was founded September 1, 2002. Its beginning was founded on Christian principles. We decided to sow a seed in a ministry called “Joy of a Child”. We felt we were planting our seed in fertile ground. Joy of a Child is based on biblical teachings. From that “seed” we got the idea for an organic gardening, lawn, and hydroponic store. Then with dirt in hand, we began preparing to open our newly found store, “Fertile Ground”.
What an adventure this “seed” has given us. We are learning so much about organic gardening, lawn and hydroponics. We know growing plants organically is nothing new. In fact organic fertilizers were used in the Old Testament of the Bible. Composting has been around even in the Garden of Eden. God divinely planned for us to have rich organic soil to be used for many centuries. As we all know, we have fallen away from such a wonderful plan. So we decided to open a store to help people learn to grow their gardens and lawns organically as God originally intended.

"Fertile Ground"
As alarms rang this morning, God continues to cry as humanity brutally rapes the planet. The wailing cannot be heard over the sound, of pleasure coming from unconcerned profiteers. For the rest of us, our deafness to the cries has come from our gluttonous consumeristic life style. A few voices beckon to be heard, usually dismissed as tree-hugging, liberals, edging fanaticism. An ecological balance does not exist, in a world where concrete grows faster than grass. Will mankind realize its mistakes, prior to its own cries of desperation being heard? Or are we destined, in the future to see greenery and wildlife, only in museums? The moment is now, the choice is ours, to turn this world around, to make it once again, a place of "fertile ground'.
